Sutherland’s Lumber

Sutherland’s Lumber, a regional building supply company, established a significant presence in Sweetwater, Texas, through a collaborative effort involving Sutherland’s, the City of Sweetwater, and Sweetwater Economic Development MDD (SEED). Through this partnership, they successfully acquired the former K-Mart building along I-20.

Occupying 70% of the building, Sutherland’s has transformed the space into a thriving retail outlet while planning to lease the remaining 30% to another business, enhancing the commercial landscape. Moreover, Sutherland’s is exploring the possibility of offering a pad site within its parking lot, potentially attracting an additional retailer or restaurant.

Since its opening in March 2020, Sutherland’s Lumber has consistently performed well, contributing positively to the local economy and community.
