Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers

In 2023, we celebrated a significant economic development achievement by opening Freddy’s Steakburgers and Frozen Custards. This milestone was made possible through a strategic partnership between 5-T Enterprise LLC, operating as Freddy’s, the City of Sweetwater, and SEED MDD.

Freddy’s, set to provide up to 30 new full-time and part-time jobs, faced a critical hurdle during its construction phase. The existing waterline along Hopkins Road needed upgrading to meet the new restaurant’s commercial needs. Unfortunately, the Water Development Board could not provide the necessary funding, putting the project at risk.

Recognizing the potential economic impact, the City of Sweetwater agreed to upgrade the waterline, contingent upon the completion of Freddy’s construction. SEED MDD further supported this initiative by granting $50,000 to the City of Sweetwater to help offset the costs. This collaboration ensured that the project stayed on track, benefiting both the local economy and the residents of Sweetwater.

Today, Freddy’s stands as a testament to what can be achieved through effective public-private partnerships. The restaurant enriches the community’s dining options and contributes to job creation and business growth, solidifying Sweetwater’s commitment to fostering a thriving local economy.
