Miesha Adames
Executive Director, Sweetwater Economic Development Municipal Development District

Miesha Adames is a dedicated economic development professional committed to advancing growth and opportunity in her hometown of Sweetwater, Texas. Born in Abilene and raised in Sweetwater, she combines deep community roots with strategic, forward-thinking leadership.

Miesha earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Western Governors University and studied Business Management at Angelo State University. She has completed all coursework required to sit for the Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) designation through the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute and the International Economic Development Council.

With more than a decade of experience in the energy sector and consulting, Miesha brings expertise in accounting, marketing, business administration, and large-scale infrastructure projects. As a landowner, she has firsthand experience navigating transmission easements, substation construction, oil and gas pipeline easements, and utility-scale solar developments—providing her with a practical understanding of complex public-private partnerships.

Since joining Sweetwater Economic Development in 2019 and serving as Executive Director since September 2021, Miesha has led strategic initiatives focused on retail recruitment, residential housing expansion, job creation incentives, and infrastructure development. Under her leadership, Sweetwater has welcomed national retailers, attracted new homebuilders, strengthened industrial partnerships, and expanded opportunities for workforce growth.

Her leadership is grounded in fiscal responsibility, data-driven decision-making, and a passion for enhancing the quality of life for Sweetwater families. Miesha remains committed to building sustainable growth that honors the community’s heritage while positioning it for long-term prosperity.

Ethan Whittenburg is a dedicated professional in economic development and real estate. With a strong background in public service, business growth, and community revitalization, Ethan plays a key role in driving local investment, managing strategic partnerships, and supporting small business success. He is also an active residential real estate agent, committed to helping families and individuals find the right place to call home. Ethan and his wife, Larissa, are proud parents to their daughter, Scotlynn, who is nearly two years old. Together, they enjoy spending time outdoors, working on home projects, and staying involved in the Sweetwater community through church and civic engagement.
