Nolan County Plaza
Sweetwater, Texas, is witnessing a significant economic resurgence through the revitalization of the Nolan County Plaza, a key retail strip center on Broadway Avenue. Previously suffering from a 47% vacancy rate and physical decline, this prime location was at risk of further deterioration.
Enter Foraker Company, an Oklahoma-based developer who recognized the plaza’s potential. With the support of SEED, Foraker embarked on a $3.2 million project to restore and upgrade the plaza. SEED, committed to reducing retail leakage and boosting local business, provided $300,000 in incentive funding to assist with the redevelopment.
Thanks to this collaboration, Nolan County Plaza is on its way to becoming a thriving commercial hub again, attracting new national tenants such as Bealls, Shoe Sensation, and Factory Connection and revitalizing the community. This project not only preserves a vital piece of Sweetwater’s retail landscape but also promises to generate increased tax revenue and economic growth for the city.
