TODAY: EXCLUSIVE BRIEFING ON WIND POWER AT STATE CAPITOL

AUSTIN, Texas – Industry leaders representing the largest new source of renewable capacity, American wind power, will host an exclusive briefing at the Texas state capitol this morning about new data showing how fast wind energy is growing in Texas and what that means for businesses and communities.
 
When: FRIDAY, Feb. 10 at 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. CT
 
What: Release of AWEA Fourth Quarter 2016 U.S. Wind Industry Market Report. Leaders from the wind industry will discuss how Texas is greatly benefiting by the growth of wind energy by adding jobs, manufacturing and revitalizing rural communities in the Lone Star state, as well as the current policy topics facing the future growth of wind in the state. Yesterday, AWEA released new data at General Motor’s Arlington Assembly Plant, which is already 50 percent powered by wind energy and will have 100 percent of its electricity needs met with wind power by 2018. Speakers will discuss the trend of companies like GM, Amazon, and Home Depot buying wind power.
